After graduating from Dartmouth College, Kenn was a research assistant for attending surgeons, fellows and residents on various retrospective orthopedic studies while also working in the medical laboratories department of the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York. Shifting his focus to law, he conducted medical literature research for a plaintiff’s law firm before becoming the lead trial paralegal with another firm. Kenn received his Juris Doctorate from Brooklyn Law School in 2001, where he received honorable mention in the Best Brief Competition and served as an Associate Managing Editor of the Brooklyn Journal of International Law.
Since that time, he has accumulated over fifteen years of extensive litigation experience in the defense of general liability claims on behalf of insurers, self-insureds and third-party administrators, including construction accidents alleging Labor Law §§ 240, 241(6) and Industrial Code violations, slip/trip and fall premises liability, automobile negligence, property damage and subrogation, as well as workers’ compensation and No-Fault/PIP loss transfers claims. After honing his skills over the course of ten plus years at a large insurance liability defense firm, Kenn was of counsel to a plaintiff’s law firm for a couple of year before coming back to the defense side with Pillinger Miller Tarallo, LLP. Throughout his career, Kenn has continually been successful in resolving claim at all stages of litigation, including at mediation or arbitration. His experience representing both plaintiffs and defendants provides valuable insight toward meaningful negotiations, and moreover, his familiarity with anatomy and medical issues concerning traumatic injuries not only enables him to assist clients in evaluating the damages claim, but also to more effectively communicate with adversaries, mediators and the court. In addition, Kenn has also presided over and decided hundreds of PIP/workers’ compensation loss transfer arbitration disputes, as well as property damage and priority of coverage disputes for Arbitration Forums, Inc.
Handling cases from inception through trial, Kenn is able assist clients in coordinating investigation and identifying and evaluating issues of liability and damages at an early juncture, as well as formulating and effectuating defense strategies focused on cost-effective resolutions.
