James E. Romer joins Pillinger Miller Tarallo, LLP, with over 20 years of litigation experience representing both defendants and plaintiffs in New York courts. He has litigated a wide variety of lawsuits, including Labor Law, premises liability, automotive, Dram Shop, wrongful death, insurance coverage, and general liability from inception to appeal.
An articulate and persuasive communicator, Mr. Romer has yielded good results for clients in presenting arguments before the Appellate and Trial Courts. These cases include: O’Connor v. Lakeview Associates, LLC, et al, 306 A.D.2d 518, 761 N.Y.S.2d 858 (2d Dep’t 2003) (Premises liability); Sporazic v. Bovis Land Lease LMB, Inc., et al, 50 A.D.3d 112, 858 N.Y.S.2d 207 (2d Dep’t 2008) (Contractual agreement where client owed no duty to plaintiff); Rojas v. New York Elevator & Electric Corp., 118 A.D.3d 642, 989 N.Y.S.2d 33 (1st Dep’t 2013) (Client, as additional insured under co-defendant’s insurance policy, entitled to defense from co-defendant); and Montaldo v. Colgate Scaffolding Corp., et al, 128 A.D.3d 916, 11 N.Y.S.3d 88 (2d Dep’t 2015) (Prevent plaintiff from circumventing a court order to change venue from Bronx County to Suffolk County).
Mr. Romer also possesses strong writing skills as is evident by his preparation of successful appeals and motions, handling issues such as: failure of the client to present a fact witness; contradicting party testimony; and client negligence not a causative factor of plaintiff’s injuries and damages.
