Anu Bhargava is a deeply experienced and highly skilled Pillinger Miller Tarallo partner.

She represents a variety of entities and only in litigations with high exposure risks. Anu currently focuses her practice on labor law and premises liability disputes. Anu is respected by clients, colleagues, and adversaries for her strategic judgment and attention to detail. In addition to Anu’s skillful defense work, her adept navigation of risk transfer mechanisms, New York’s General Obligations Law, and her summary judgment achievements reflect Anu’s uncanny ability to complete necessary discovery efficiently. She is a master at precise and strategic depositions. Anu is proud of results obtained enforcing additional insured and indemnification obligations.

Anu ascribes excellent results to preparation. She carefully analyzes the pertinent documents before engaging with other parties. Clients rely on Anu in complex civil litigation throughout New York and credit her timely reporting, mindfulness of client objectives, and industry knowledge. Anu may not have swung many hammers, but she knows heavy construction litigation. She represents REITS and other commercial property owners, construction managers, general contractors, and independent sub-contractors regarding construction defect claims, construction accidents, code violations issues, and building and design-related deficiencies.

Notwithstanding independent responsibilities for a docket of complex cases, Anu also helps to manage cases handled by less experienced attorneys and oversees excess exposures for select insurers. Anu’s calm demeanor makes her approachable for those seeking guidance and camouflages her fierce determination to prevail.

Anu also has a proven record of appellate success. She is comfortable on her feet and responding to a hot bench. Anu masters the record and knows the case law when appearing before an appellate panel. She moves smoothly from her prepared presentation to responsive answers to bench questions and back.

In addition to her litigation practice, Anu chairs the PMT Women’s Group, where she leads initiatives devoted to mentorship, professional development, and fostering thoughtful, candid dialogue about the challenges and opportunities women encounter in the legal profession.

Before joining PMT, Anu practiced at prominent Manhattan insurance defense firms, where she handled a broad range of cases.

Anu has been admitted to practice in New York State since 2012 and in the United States District Courts for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York since 2014. Her languages are English and Hindi. Anu’s degrees are a LLB awarded by the ILS Law College (regularly ranked a top ten law colleges in India) and a Master of Law awarded by the George Washington University School of Law.
