Michael P. Hess is an experienced litigator with more than 15 years of experience representing insurers, insureds and businesses in complex, high-exposure matters. He concentrates his practice on New York Labor Law, general liability, construction liability, insurance coverage and subrogation claims.

Michael handles all phases of litigation, including case evaluation, discovery, depositions, motion practice, court appearances, mediation, settlement negotiations, trial preparation and appeals. He has successfully briefed and argued dispositive motions involving complex liability, coverage and risk transfer issues, and has handled appeals before the Appellate Division, First Department. His experience includes construction accidents and defects, premises liability, automobile liability, products liability, property damage, toxic torts, personal injury and commercial disputes. He has also served as lead counsel in a jury trial in Supreme Court, Kings County, obtaining a favorable settlement after opening arguments.

Michael is known for clear, persuasive writing and a practical approach to case management. He works closely with clients and claims professionals to evaluate liability and damages, identify risk transfer opportunities and pursue favorable resolutions through motion practice, negotiation or mediation.

He has managed Labor Law matters with combined projected exposure of approximately $40–$50 million, presented high-visibility cases to senior claims executives and spoken at client seminars. Michael also has experience supervising and mentoring junior attorneys.
